What is Azonto/Afrobeats?
What kind of African dance can I learn in this class?
You can learn street dance movements which you dance to Ghanaian, Nigerian or other African pop music. Check out the following YouTube video to get an idea of the dance style.
 
 
No Prior Experience Necessary
I don’t have a sense of rhythm, or any experience of dancing before. Can I still join?
No problem at all. You can be a beginner forever. The goal is to let your heart free and just have fun. You don’t have to dance well.
 
 
Online Classes Available
Can I participate online?
Yes. Online classes are available via Zoom. You can check this YouTube video to see what an online class is like.
 

Super Beginner Class 🔰🔰🔰🔰🔰

Every Monday  19:30 - 21:00
(Arbitrary muscle training from 19:15)

Class Description

You can be a beginner forever! This is a class for those who try dancing for the first time. Anyone can join even if you feel hesitant. Just move your body to African rhythms and your body and mind will feel refreshed. It’s a class for beginners to have fun! Check out this video  to get a feel of what it’s like.

 

Challenge Class 🔰🔰

Every Wednesday  19:30 - 21:00
(Arbitrary muscle training from 19:15)

Class Description

Fatimata will decide the training menu depending on students’ needs. Any objective is fine — losing weight, improving dance skills, or detoxing. Fatimata will imagine what the participants are looking for and decide the menu, or you can ask for a specific menu. Students of any level are welcome.

 

Afro Step Basic Class 🔰🔰🔰

Every Saturday  11:00 - 12:30
(Arbitrary muscle training from 10:45)

Class Description

In this class, you’ll first learn body isolations required for dancing, as well as basic Afrobeats steps. After that, you will try a short choreography using the steps you learned in class. Just free your mind and enjoy yourself, even if you are a total beginner. No need to think you’re not good at dancing. Watch this YouTube video to experience what it’s like.

Monthly Workshop — Azonto/Afrobeats dance workshop by Fatimata. Azonto and Afrobeats are super popular in Europe as Azonto fitness. Fatimata will teach you the basics in an easy way and you’ll be able to dance a mini choreography at the end.

Lesson Fee

1 lesson: 3,000 yen
5 tickets: 14,000 yen (2,800 per class)/2 months
10 tickets: 25,000 yen (2,500 per class)/3 months

Please do not ring the doorbell at the front on the ground floor, as it is connected to the resident in the building. Just take the elevator to 3F.

 

Enter this street with Lawson on the right and a vending machine on the left.

You will immediately find a building on the left that says, “上州屋ビル”. Please enter the building and take the elevator to the 3rd floor.

 

There’s only one door on the 3rd floor. Here is the studio.

What to Bring

A towel, clothes to change after the class, water, indoor shoes.
Outdoor shoes are prohibited in the studio. You can dance barefoot or use indoor shoes.

 

Efforts against COVID-19

  • Currently, we limit the number of in-studio participants to 5 people. If the in-studio reservation is full, please join online or we can put you on a waiting list.
  • We ask students to wear masks.
  • Equipped with soap for handwashing, and regularly conducting ventilation.
  • Please refrain from joining in-studio classes if you have a fever or are not feeling well.
  • Transparent plastic masks are available at the studio for 200 yen.
  • Please be noted that we may limit the classes to online only, depending on the future situations.
